USING ZROUTER RESPONSIBLY

Terms of service

Last updated:

These terms describe your responsibilities and ours when you use ZRouter's website, account workspace, and AI gateway.

Terms at a glance

Protect your account and keys, use the service lawfully, and review AI output before relying on it. Prepaid requests use your ZRouter credits. BYOK provider charges are separate from ZRouter routing fees. CLI and MCP clients can perform account actions you authorize.

1. Agreement and scope

ZRouter is developed and maintained by NEXUS AI. These terms apply to the ZRouter website, dashboard, hosted gateway API, zctl account access, and account MCP service operated by our team. By using these services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you act for a business or another organization, you must have authority to bind it, and references to you include that organization.

Separately operated and self-hosted deployments are subject to their operator's service terms. Software licenses govern your rights to install, modify, or distribute the software; these service terms do not replace those licenses. A separate written agreement with us takes priority where it expressly conflicts with these terms.

2. Your account and access

Provide accurate account information and keep it current. Protect your password, Google or GitHub sign-in, API keys, provider credentials, session tokens, and management tokens. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account and for giving access only to people and clients you trust.

Use separate keys where appropriate and revoke access you no longer need. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized activity. Revoking a provider key in ZRouter does not revoke it at the provider.

zctl and MCP clients can inspect account information and perform actions such as creating keys, changing routers, and updating limits when authorized. Review tool actions before approval and use the access controls available in your client. An MCP connection for account management does not change the AI assistant's inference provider.

3. AI routing and third-party providers

ZRouter routes supported requests to configured AI models and providers. Available endpoints, models, features, and account limits can vary. A virtual model can select different underlying models, and routing or failover can involve more than one provider. Consult the API guide and virtual model guide before integrating an application.

Third-party providers, sign-in services, checkout services, and connected clients have their own terms and policies. You must comply with applicable provider requirements, including usage restrictions and account permissions. Using BYOK requires a valid provider account and a credential authorized for the requested model.

AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or similar to output received by others. Review output and verify important facts, permissions, and suitability before using or publishing it. Do not rely on output as your sole basis for a decision that requires professional judgment or independent verification.

4. Prepaid credits, charges, and payments

Creating an account does not require a card. New accounts start with a $0 balance and no monthly subscription. Credit purchases start at $5 USD when payments are available. Stripe processes checkout, and credits are added after payment confirmation.

Gateway-funded requests use prepaid ZRouter credits. A request can reserve estimated credit before execution and settle the charge using reported usage. A reservation can exceed the final charge, and a request can be declined when the balance cannot cover it. Usage estimates and settled ledger charges can differ. Metered provider attempts during failover can contribute to the charge. If usage is missing or a stream ends before metering arrives, reserved credit may remain held for reconciliation.

BYOK providers bill your provider account directly. Any applicable ZRouter routing fee is separate and uses your ZRouter balance. You remain responsible for provider charges, including charges that do not appear in the ZRouter ledger.

Review the current pricing, checkout details, and billing guide before purchasing credits or sending paid requests. Rates and available models can change. Pricing changes apply to future usage; they do not rewrite settled charges. Account budgets and rate limits help control usage but are not a substitute for monitoring your application and provider account.

Credits are a prepaid balance for service usage, not a bank deposit or an investment. They cannot be withdrawn as cash or transferred between accounts through the service. To report a billing error or request a refund, contact the team with the relevant transaction reference. Refund requests are reviewed based on the transaction and applicable law. Approved refunds reduce the corresponding credit balance. Nothing in these terms removes a refund or cancellation right required by law.

5. Acceptable use

Use ZRouter only for lawful purposes and within the permissions of your account and connected providers. You must not:

  • Submit content or use output in a way that violates applicable law, another person's rights, or a provider's usage rules.
  • Use stolen credentials, access another account without permission, or attempt to bypass authentication, billing, budgets, rate limits, or security controls.
  • Distribute malware, disrupt the service, deliberately overload infrastructure, or exploit a vulnerability beyond what is necessary to report it responsibly.
  • Use the service for fraud, unlawful surveillance, harassment, exploitation, or other activities that harm people or compromise their privacy.
  • Misrepresent your identity or permissions, or submit confidential or personal information you are not authorized to share.

Report suspected vulnerabilities through our contact page without exposing other users' information or sharing secret credentials.

6. Your content and intellectual property

As between you and ZRouter, you retain your rights in the content you submit. You give us permission to process, transmit, and store that content as needed to provide the requested service, enforce these terms, and comply with applicable law, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Rights in generated output depend on applicable law and the relevant provider's terms. ZRouter does not promise that output is unique, copyrightable, or free of third-party claims. You are responsible for obtaining permissions needed for your inputs and uses of output.

ZRouter's branding and service materials remain the property of their respective owners. Using the service does not grant ownership of them. Rights granted by an applicable open-source or third-party software license remain governed by that license.

7. Privacy and provider credentials

The Privacy Policy explains account data, request logging, browser storage, service providers, retention, and privacy requests. Request logs can include prompts and responses when body logging is enabled. Selected AI providers apply their own data handling and retention policies.

You authorize ZRouter to use saved BYOK credentials to authenticate the provider requests you initiate. Keep credential permissions appropriate for your use, and replace or revoke exposed keys at the provider. Do not send passwords, API keys, or sensitive request content in support messages.

8. Availability and service changes

We work to maintain a useful and reliable service, but availability depends on infrastructure, providers, and other services. Maintenance, outages, model changes, or provider restrictions can interrupt requests. These terms do not promise a particular uptime, response time, model quality, or routing cost saving.

We may update, limit, or retire features and models. Where practical, we will provide notice of changes that materially affect account use. Keep copies of information important to your work and design your application to handle errors and changing model availability.

We may update these terms and change the revision date above. Where required, we will give notice of material changes. Updated terms apply from the stated effective date or the date specified in the notice. If you do not agree to an update, stop using the service and contact us about account closure.

9. Suspension and account closure

We may restrict or suspend access to address a security risk, suspected fraud, unlawful activity, a violation of these terms, unpaid obligations, or a legal requirement. When practical and lawful, we will explain the restriction and provide a way to contact us about it. Urgent action may be necessary to protect users or the service.

You can stop using ZRouter, revoke active keys and management tokens, and contact us to request account closure. Closing an account does not cancel valid settled charges or charges due to a third-party provider. Contact us about any remaining credit balance and applicable refund rights. Record retention after closure is described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Warranties and responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available, without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You remain responsible for your application, your inputs, your account permissions, and your use of generated output.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost business opportunities, or losses caused by a third-party provider or client outside our reasonable control. These exclusions do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable mandatory consumer protections. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for fraud or any other liability that applicable law does not allow us to limit.

11. Questions, disputes, and contact

For service questions, billing concerns, account closure, or a dispute, use the NEXUS AI contact page and identify your request as relating to ZRouter. Include your account email and relevant request or transaction identifiers, but never include secret credentials.

Please contact us so we can try to resolve a concern in good faith. These terms do not remove your right to use a court, regulator, or another remedy available under applicable law. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
